Get Help For a Child
WHERE TO GET HELP
If it’s an emergency and you suspect a child is at serious risk, or a crime against a child has been committed this must be reported.
IN AN EMERGENCY CALL 111
When it’s not an emergency and you are worried about a child you can phone Oranga Tamariki on 0508FAMILY (0508-326-459) for some ideas about what to do. You don’t need to give your name.
We recommend visiting the Child Matters Site for important information about child abuse, what you can do if you are concerned about a child, how to recognise the signs and some community support links.
A lot of the time it may not be obvious that a child is at risk, you may need to rely on a hunch or feeling uncomfortable about a situation. Don’t wait until you are certain, always put a child first.
