Ricky Houghton – Special Message
We are incredibly stoked to hear that Ricky Houghton of He Korowai Trust, Kaitaia has won New Zealand Local Hero of the Year Award. We were privileged to have met Ricky right at the start of our journey of New Zealand in the Far North.
Actually, we just happened to run into him when we went into a cafe (at that stage we were not aware it was attached to He Korowai Trust) and he came out and chatted to the boys. Later when we realised who he was, he invited us through for a korero. He proceeded to ensure all our kids were loaded up with toasted sandwiches and told us we were more than welcome to park at the facilities. Such is the welcoming heart of this man.
He has his own story to share – but for now, we thought we would just share this important message he had for people going through family violence.
