Pekerau Primary Hangi

What are your nostalgic 'pure kiwi' memories from when you were a kid?One of these for me is the distinct smell and taste of a hāngi. It was therefore with no hesitation that we accepted the invite from Pekerau Primary School (the boys school prior to bus life) to join them for their hāngi fundraiser while we were in Te Awamutu. The thing I particularly love about the hāngi is that it embraces the value of whānaungatanga where everyone works together to get things done, building relationships along the way.
