Listen to the Children (powerful)

Listen to the children. Tū pono (standing in the truth) is the path twins, Teakaraupo and Tanemahuta, have chosen in order to stop the violence both within their whānau and the wider community. We were invited to kai and kōrero with these beautiful 12 year old insightful young men (they have earned their right to be called that) and their incredible Nana as they shared with us their story of abuse, of losing their Mum, their journey of forgiveness and choosing a different path for future generations. These courageous and inspirational young men are champions for violence prevention movement Tū Pono: Te Mana Kaha o te Whānau. Listening is vital in order for us to learn how we can help or be part of the change for a violence free New Zealand. Whakarongo mai to this snippet of our kōrero with Teakaraupo and Tanemahuta. The song they wrote, E tū whānau is dedicated to mentor and inspiration, Tania Mataki who passed away in May.
